All universities in the UK and Australia have a qualifying norm in relation to the English language. IELTS means International English Language Testing System. The British Council in your area is the authority to conduct the test and award marks. The exam is conducted thrice a month for which you need to prepare. The exam has four parts of testing Listening, Speaking, Comprehension and Writing. The Test is graded on a 9 point scale and most universities require you to score a minimum of 5.5. For courses which are vocational which require interaction with others in the public, for example nursing, you may have to score a minimum of 7.00.
